But if you feel his setups are the way to go, at least the converters, Ill go that route. Then im guessing ill just need a spool of 12V warm white LEDs.
I'd go with the DIY board GRJ mentions in the above linked thread. As noted that board has brightness adjustment. In that thread, I posted a link to a DigiKey cart which is a good starting point for accumulating the components from a single domestic vendor; I just tested the DigiKey link and it appears to still work. I think it was $3.68 for quantity 1 set of parts. DigiKey shipping will be around $5 if you choose USPS shipping - they are fast; you'll have parts in a couple days. If you still have that lot of 25 DCS inductors from earlier in the thread you don't need to order that part! IIRC one of the guys got the per-board component cost closer to $1 by buying in larger quantity from eBay and/or Asia sellers.
You still have to order the raw/bare circuit boards but I believe that process has been navigated successfully by several OGR'ers with the information provided.
In quantity 10, the parts end up being about $2.70 a board from Digikey. If you order them by slow board from the Far East, they should be no more than $1 for a board.
Ordering the PCB's in quantity will be less than $1/ea.
Been a little busy with end of 2020, but I did get all the parts in and built 9 of these boards so far. Now I just need a roll of LEDs to use. Do you have a preferred strip that you like to use? Fun project thus far.
Truthfully, I just sample various vendors on places like eBay or AliExpress, when I find one that I like the color temperature and general quality of the reels, I buy a bunch of them.
