I just insalled my first DCS Explorer system. The loco is an MTH 2-8-0 H10 with PS2. The loco runs and the speed control is amazing.

However, there is no lights, smoke, whistle, bell, etc. I only get the speed control. Any ideas on the cause and possible fixes?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Ralph

What do you see on the App screen?

The DCS Explorer version is very limited in what it can control but you should have as display on your smart device that includes speed, Bell, Horn/whistle, forward, reverse.  Pushing the little arrow down at the bottom of the screen should have PFA and Doppler plus volume, couplers, smoke, headlight, and engine sounds on/off

Yes, I see all those features but they are not operating. I press the button and nothing happens.

There was a thread going on here earlier about problem using explorer with PS2 locomotives.  I haven't tried any so I can't comment.  We'll have to wait for someone to chime in.  If you have the control as shown then in theory they should work especially since you are controlling the speed of the engine.

Hi Ralph, Can you give us the part number of your PS2 engine? I have had some experience with the Explorer not working well with the earliest built PS2 engine (5v board models). Sometimes the explorer can't add them to the roster when you search for them or sometimes they stop responding all together.

Make sure your Explorer has the latest firmware version installed (version 1.2) and I have even found it necessary to reset the the explorer to factory defaults after upgrading the firmware to get it to work properly with some of my early PS2 engines.

Thanks. I'll look for the part number when I get home.
