Decals on Anodized Aluminum

I am applying decals to Weaver anodized aluminum passenger cars. What clear coat product would be best to coat the decal area? I think I will limit the coating to an area just slightly over the decal surface. Anyone had experience with this?

I am working on a set of 60' aluminum cars which I removed the previous tape strip graphics and applying blue stripe decals to become a VIA Rail Canada set.

I think you need to put some gloss coat on first, then decal, the gloss coat over the entire area. Otherwise you'll see the decal film--
