SPRING YORK 2023 PURCHASES!
My third adventure to York is officially in the books. It was a hot one, but as always, I had an amazing time! Several items were crossed off my list and several more items I didn't even know I needed followed me home as well.
First off, I'd like to give a shout out to everyone that purchased items from me! This was my first time selling on OGR and everything went smoothly, well almost. More to follow on that. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to my buddy John @Choo-Choo Johnny, Dave @bisel, Jeff @Central Terminal Jeff, John @gunrunnerjohn, and Bob who i didn't get a profile from. It was great meeting you all and Thank You again! All sales went great until I met @gunrunnerjohn as soon as I walked into the Orange Hall. I was starting to get tight on time and the initial sight of Orange Hall is always a bit overwhelming. Well I met John, gave him his items and change, and walked away accidentally leaving the money he gave me on the table. Luckily John chased me down about 2 booths over with the money. Talk about a major rookie mistake on my end! THANK YOU SO MUCH John for chasing me down! It's truly appreciated! I came by on Friday a few times to say Hello and Thank You again, but you sure are popular! Always had a group around you with an in depth conversation taking place.
I would also like to give a shout out to the two OGR members I purchased items from. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to both Mike @MikeH, and Bob @RRDOC! No worries, your items are in good hands. It was great meeting you both and Thank You again!
My Day 1 started on Thursday with a 2 hour drive down to York. My mom came along again but only for Thursday this time. We actually made good time with no traffic and I was in a convoy doing about 85-90mph most of the way. Got there about 11:20, did some exchanges, and then went to grab tickets. This was the fastest the lines have ever moved for us! I think it took 4 minutes total, impressive! I made a variety of purchases from buildings, street vehicles, rolling stock, train room decor, accessories, empty Menards boxes, and even a shirt!
First up are the 75 empty Menards boxes I picked up off a dealer for FREE! This deal has been in the works for sometime. I'm not going to lie, these boxes really excited me! If you know me, then you know I've been hunting down these boxes to help with storing everything neatly with my OCD. Thanks again Jim! See you in October!
Here's all the street vehicles I picked up at some really great prices. I was bundle buying for a discount. The Goodyear truck was actually picked up on Friday during a trade.
Next up is an awesome porcelain hobo! Meet Willie who is whistling the "Chattanooga Choo Choo" song. This thing is really neat!
These next two boxcars I saw on the "Buy Anything Cool Lately" thread. I commented how I've never seen either and that they were going on my list. Well a few hours later I received an email from Stu @NOT LionelLLC from over at METCA. After a few emails, Stu had my name placed on one of each of the Blue Coal boxcars that are custom METCA cars. Very nice cars and awesome initiative by Stu! THANK YOU again Stu!
I also picked up a few buildings and accessories. There's a very nice gentleman in Silver Hall that always has a great selection of some nicely done buildings. I picked up two from him this time. Here's a very nicely done Silo and a Yard Tower.
The rest of the buildings are a Jed's Bicycle corner building, a Hobo Hotel, and a three pack of patriotic billboard accessories.
Several pieces of rolling stock came home with me. Lots of great deals! Several combo purchases which helps with a bundle price.
My final item I purchased on Thursday was a PRR T-Shirt. I felt like I needed something train related for wearing to the train shows.
The vehicle was packed on the drive home Thursday. I literally couldn't see out the rear view mirror! It was great! LoL! Here's a photo of all my Day 1 purchases.
My Day 2 on Friday started with another 2 hour drive down to York. I took a good friend down as a first time guest this time. Traffic was a little heavier but still managed to find a group to convoy at 80-85mph. Left the house later than planned so arrived at 11:40. There was actually more of a line for tickets compared to Thursday but still only took 9 minutes.
After receiving the guest badge, we walked Silver Hall since we were already there before heading to Purple Hall to buy my biggest purchase from this York, and it came from a fellow OGR forum member at a very reasonable price IMO. I officially added some big purple boxes to my collection! Introducing my MTH Premier PRR Heavyweight Madison 5-car set (20-4023) and the add on 2-car set (20-4125). These things are beautiful!
The rest of the items I picked up were just a few pieces of rolling stock and the Goodyear Truck I mentioned earlier.
Here's a photo of all my Day 2 purchases.
And here's a photo of my entire Spring York 2023 haul along with the single $1 I came home with! LoL!
It was a great third York experience for me! My smartwatch says I walked over 8 miles on each day! It did seem like the crowd size was down which made looking easier resulting in the numerous rolling stock and street vehicles I bought. I seen nearly everyone leaving the halls with a bag or box so purchases were being made. Could have had cooler temps but I simply adjusted by trying to prioritize the White and Red Halls first since they didn't have A/C. I'm already looking forward to the Fall Show! I absolutely love this photo and need to share it again since it's so fitting with York!
A BIG THANK YOU goes to EDTCA, all the dealers, sellers, buyers, volunteers, and to everyone that helped make this show possible!
