LOVE THE ILLUSTRATION  Richie . .......

........and the same box ( chewy) in the photo that our two rescues like to see on the front porch.

Thanks Joe! I’ve seen the illustration on Facebook several times and believe I first saw it on Trainland. It cracks me up every time! LoL.
I used to work as a lead at Chewy when they opened up next to me. Management ran it into the ground fast. It’s a revolving door now. This Chewy box has 8 Spirit of 76 boxcars so your rescues wouldn’t be too thrilled.

SPRING YORK 2023 PURCHASES!

My third adventure to York is officially in the books. It was a hot one, but as always, I had an amazing time! Several items were crossed off my list and several more items I didn't even know I needed followed me home as well.

First off, I'd like to give a shout out to everyone that purchased items from me! This was my first time selling on OGR and everything went smoothly, well almost. More to follow on that. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to my buddy John @Choo-Choo Johnny, Dave @bisel, Jeff @Central Terminal Jeff, John @gunrunnerjohn, and Bob who i didn't get a profile from. It was great meeting you all and Thank You again! All sales went great until I met @gunrunnerjohn as soon as I walked into the Orange Hall. I was starting to get tight on time and the initial sight of Orange Hall is always a bit overwhelming. Well I met John, gave him his items and change, and walked away accidentally leaving the money he gave me on the table. Luckily John chased me down about 2 booths over with the money. Talk about a major rookie mistake on my end! THANK YOU SO MUCH John for chasing me down! It's truly appreciated! I came by on Friday a few times to say Hello and Thank You again, but you sure are popular! Always had a group around you with an in depth conversation taking place.

I would also like to give a shout out to the two OGR members I purchased items from. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to both Mike @MikeH, and Bob @RRDOC! No worries, your items are in good hands. It was great meeting you both and Thank You again!

My Day 1 started on Thursday with a 2 hour drive down to York. My mom came along again but only for Thursday this time. We actually made good time with no traffic and I was in a convoy doing about 85-90mph most of the way. Got there about 11:20, did some exchanges, and then went to grab tickets. This was the fastest the lines have ever moved for us! I think it took 4 minutes total, impressive! I made a variety of purchases from buildings, street vehicles, rolling stock, train room decor, accessories, empty Menards boxes, and even a shirt!

First up are the 75 empty Menards boxes I picked up off a dealer for FREE! This deal has been in the works for sometime. I'm not going to lie, these boxes really excited me! If you know me, then you know I've been hunting down these boxes to help with storing everything neatly with my OCD. Thanks again Jim! See you in October!

Here's all the street vehicles I picked up at some really great prices. I was bundle buying for a discount. The Goodyear truck was actually picked up on Friday during a trade.

Next up is an awesome porcelain hobo! Meet Willie who is whistling the "Chattanooga Choo Choo" song. This thing is really neat!

These next two boxcars I saw on the "Buy Anything Cool Lately" thread. I commented how I've never seen either and that they were going on my list. Well a few hours later I received an email from Stu @NOT LionelLLC from over at METCA. After a few emails, Stu had my name placed on one of each of the Blue Coal boxcars that are custom METCA cars. Very nice cars and awesome initiative by Stu! THANK YOU again Stu!

I also picked up a few buildings and accessories. There's a very nice gentleman in Silver Hall that always has a great selection of some nicely done buildings. I picked up two from him this time. Here's a very nicely done Silo and a Yard Tower.

The rest of the buildings are a Jed's Bicycle corner building, a Hobo Hotel, and a three pack of patriotic billboard accessories.

Several pieces of rolling stock came home with me. Lots of great deals! Several combo purchases which helps with a bundle price.

My final item I purchased on Thursday was a PRR T-Shirt. I felt like I needed something train related for wearing to the train shows.

The vehicle was packed on the drive home Thursday. I literally couldn't see out the rear view mirror! It was great! LoL! Here's a photo of all my Day 1 purchases.

My Day 2 on Friday started with another 2 hour drive down to York. I took a good friend down as a first time guest this time. Traffic was a little heavier but still managed to find a group to convoy at 80-85mph. Left the house later than planned so arrived at 11:40. There was actually more of a line for tickets compared to Thursday but still only took 9 minutes.

After receiving the guest badge, we walked Silver Hall since we were already there before heading to Purple Hall to buy my biggest purchase from this York, and it came from a fellow OGR forum member at a very reasonable price IMO. I officially added some big purple boxes to my collection! Introducing my MTH Premier PRR Heavyweight Madison 5-car set (20-4023) and the add on 2-car set (20-4125). These things are beautiful!

8FE5210B-6BB7-48E4-884C-07092A5E8E1D

The rest of the items I picked up were just a few pieces of rolling stock and the Goodyear Truck I mentioned earlier.

Here's a photo of all my Day 2 purchases.

7834A3E3-5FF3-45F1-976E-39358F44919B

And here's a photo of my entire Spring York 2023 haul along with the single $1 I came home with! LoL!

It was a great third York experience for me! My smartwatch says I walked over 8 miles on each day! It did seem like the crowd size was down which made looking easier resulting in the numerous rolling stock and street vehicles I bought. I seen nearly everyone leaving the halls with a bag or box so purchases were being made. Could have had cooler temps but I simply adjusted by trying to prioritize the White and Red Halls first since they didn't have A/C. I'm already looking forward to the Fall Show! I absolutely love this photo and need to share it again since it's so fitting with York!

A BIG THANK YOU goes to EDTCA, all the dealers, sellers, buyers, volunteers, and to everyone that helped make this show possible!

@Apples55 thanks Paul! It’s definitely my nicest passenger set so far. I was thinking the same thing. Might need to look for a new train room with a house attached 😁

Thanks @Mark Boyce! They sure are great folks! I’m starting to recognize familiar faces! When @gunrunnerjohn caught back up to me, he asks if I forgot anything. I was first thinking I forgot an item for him but he flashed the money and my heart dropped LoL. Definitely an embarrassing first interaction. A great time was absolutely had by all! Especially the kids playing in the kid section on Friday! They were ecstatic!

Personally, I thought it was very amusing.  I suspect most of the folks I know would have done the same thing, at least I hope they would.   Besides, I didn't want to make a bad first impression.

I suppose it was a little amusing with how it turned out LoL. I’m sure most would have done the same thing at this venue with so many wonderful people in our hobby. Sorry I was in such a rush. Wanted to try to get my mom through some of the better sections of the Orange Hall. She absolutely loved the isle with the lighted ceramic Christmas and Halloween buildings along with carnival rides. Some really neat features packed into those buildings!

INVENTORY UPDATE!

Spent some time over the weekend updating my inventory spreadsheets with all my York purchases. The numbers are starting to get into some higher digits which is just fine with me! 😁 I also calculated my entire expenses at York and despite the few setbacks a couple of weeks earlier, this York exceeded my two other times attending. Of course the wallet will have to remain untouched for a bit following. Another thing I accomplished over the weekend was labeling a bunch of Menards boxes for the several unboxed items I had. Organization is key in this madness! LoL. I’m really happy I received all these boxes to fulfill my OCD needs! Thanks again Jim! Here’s a few of the relabeled boxes.

I have also started preparations for the fall York show. 176 days but who’s counting! LoL!

Wow Rich , talk about someone having fun at York .

Are you going to open these before the fall York show ?

Thanks Joe! I had an amazing time with some much needed train therapy. Still in the layout rebuild stage so I’m going to shift funds from buying trains back to benchwork supplies. Once the benchwork is completed, I’ll start bringing more items out. Don’t want to get dust on everything from the ongoing construction work. I still have a bunch of Menards items I need to finalize at the gentleman’s house I’ve been getting the collection from over the past several months. I’m hoping to finish that purchase up by the beginning of June, funds pending.

Fantastic!

Peter

Thanks Peter! The price was so good, I didn’t even try to haggle.

Mark I just took the creeper for a test run under the layout and it fits and works perfectly!!! It should make my wiring a little more pleasant.

I’m extremely happy with this flea market find!!!

@Richizzle07,

Is there a model number on that creeper? I can't find any similar ones. They either have a high back or change to a rolling stool. Thanks.

Hi John! Only a patent number and another number. I tried tracing the patent number and it’s coming back to the rolling stool type you mentioned. This is probably an earlier version. Here’s the two numbers. Maybe you’ll have some better luck.

NEW PURCHASE UPDATE!

I have seen others talk about “post York syndrome” and I believe I’ve come down with it too. While browsing the Menards website, I came across a newly listed online item that was only available in stores prior. It’s a 24-car dealer pack of 2019 Ford Transit vans. I also ordered a flatcar w/ lite Goodyear truck and an Alaska flatcar w/ cement truck. Both were getting really low with inventory availability. Just a small prescription for now! LoL

NEW PURCHASE UPDATE!

I received a small delivery from Menards over the weekend. I’ve been busy doing landscaping and other projects so haven’t been on the forum much this week. Anyway, I ordered the new Santa Fe caboose along with a Canadian National modern tanker. The inventory for the CN tanker was getting low with less than 50 left at this moment. Very nice caboose IMO. Here’s 2 photos and a video.

NEW CHRISTMAS PLATFORM PURCHASED!

Over the weekend I was picking up a few items from an online yard sale when I got into conversation with the seller about other items they might be selling and I mentioned trains. Well they had a 2 piece platform with each having a 4’x4’ homasote top and a 2x4 base trim. I offered $5 and they accepted. The guy then told me it was destined for his scrap fire pile so I’m glad I saved them. I’ll end up using these for a Christmas platform. More projects added to my list!! LoL

NEW PURCHASE UPDATE!

Shortly after making my last post, I decided to go to a local flea market. Picked up this next item for just $5! Once again it’s not a train item but rather an item for the train room. This creeper will be used for doing my wiring under the layout. Great deal in my opinion.

Great deal - looks to be in great shape.  Those are very useful, and it can also be configured as a rolling stool - a little taller, but easier to get on and off of.  I got mine (new) for about $25 or $30 - can't remember if I got it at Menards or Harbor Freight.

Thanks @Mallard4468! I believe this creeper is an early version since it doesn’t have the option to convert to a rolling stool. I searched the patent and had no luck finding it.

Rich if you don't have any room on YOUR layout for the FLAMING PURPLE truck.........I think I know where I could find room .

Nice collection of vehicles sir.

Thanks Joseph! Menards street vehicles are near perfect scale and the price point is almost incomparable. I’m planning on changing out scenes mainly with the vehicle traffic so this one has plans for the car shows or parades. It’ll be with my Dodge Power Wagon with flames. Vehicles are definitely accumulating so I might need a multi lane overpass nearby.  LoL

Sounds like you are going to have a lot of vehicles on your layout Rich.

I guess when you think about real life scenes normally there would be many four and two wheelers moving about. 🤔

NEW PURCHASE UPDATE!

These items arrived last week but I had a week full of camping and kayaking then catching up on yard work so I finally got some photos.
First up is the new bonus pack that Menards just released. The one flatcar has the tractor while the other has the trailer. Great deal! While on the site I noticed the 1947 Dodge Power Wagon dealer pack was back in stock so I snagged the last one. I also had a “Deuce and a half” fall into my virtual shopping cart LoL. Here’s the photos of my recent purchases.

NEW PURCHASE UPDATE!

I actually have two purchase updates that I’ll be making in one post. (Been busy with outdoor projects and activities.)

A little over two weeks ago I ordered the Pepsi two pack that Menards released. This sold out extremely fast and I’m glad I snagged one. IMO these are great looking and an amazing price for the two pack. I also grabbed a two pack of Union Pacific ore cars since the available inventory was getting really low. Photos of order one.

The second order from last week arrived earlier this week. Menards released more of the two pack flatcars with the trailers. The first one is a Hershey truck and trailer which will go great with the candy train. The second is a REA truck and trailer. Great colors on both of these! I also added a PRR weathered boxcar with graffiti. Yes this is my second one but the graffiti is different on each side so I bought it since the available inventory is getting low.

Those are really cool!!

NEW PURCHASE UPDATE!

Well Menards is really killing me lately with all these new releases!! Heck, I’m not complaining LoL! Last week they released 4 new candy cars so I ordered the assorted dealer pack to save a few bucks. My candy train is getting massive!! I really like the new M&Ms tanker and hope they do a tanker in each color. M&Ms ore cars would be really amazing too but let’s not get ahead of ourselves LoL. I also ordered a weathered Burlington Northern boxcar with graffiti since the inventory is getting low. Some photos of my order.
