I seem to remember that the dimensions for the metric screw used to attach KD couplers to cars is 2mm by 8mm. Before I order a bunch of the wrong size, will someone confirm my recollection or tell me the correct dimensions?
That's the size I use for MTH locomotives. I also use them on Atlas cars which allows the Kadee box to mount using the Atlas holes, though the box needs to be shimmed and sticks out a bit from the end sill.
Yes, for most imports, and many others, 2X8mm is the way to go.
NWSL sells them in packs in 100 with Phillips head (I like the blackened version). I prefer the Phillips head because the small screw driver has less tendency to slip off the screw head.
Yep, 2x8mm user here. With Atlas cars & Kadees, if you loosely fit the first screw through the draftgear box but don't fully tighten it, there's usually a bit of 'wriggle room' to get the second screw through into the mounting hole and get it started, even if it cuts it's own way into the plastic. Both screws can then be tightened - but not too much..!!
