A few years ago, I built a Halloween layout inspired by Jim Policastro. Here's a couple of pictures of my little layout that did not appear in OGR. It still looks pretty much the same. There's a little scenery touch up needed, but it will be running again this year. New this year, I have added a couple of RMT Boo Lines Ore cars and a M&Ms Halloween boxcar.

I fall into the ranks of those that are not interested in buying and/or running any Halloween stuff on my layout.  But, I must say, that the pictures that were submitted were very interesting and I could see that a lot of attention was put into those layouts that did incorporate the Halloween theme.  Just another example that the possibilities and interests in our wonderful hobby doesn't have any limits.

Yes I do have a special area of  a Halloween Theme. My layout is geared to the late summer/fall season. Halloween is the ultimate end to that. I have an area where a set with as many cars that would work/fit, that run around the L Haunted House, pas. station, various K-Line animations, figures from Hallmark, Lionel and whatever else I can find coming out of a grave. Like everything else you would love, I am maxed out on space, wish I can add more, but I am always on the lookout for something. I do have purple lighting over the Halloween area along with a blacklight.  My Halloween express engine uses Licorice scent smoke fluid, thought that would be the most apropiate.

I guess I could get into it for some sort of display for trick or treat (like some of the others already posted pictures of) but the weather here at that time of year is unpredictable & oftentimes it can be rainy & windy & on top of that there arn't even any kids on my street to come to the door & see it anyway, so there's just no way & I'm not interested. Like others have said, now that I've seen the photos, it makes more sense to me that someone would want to do it though.

Yes and No.  No we haven't actually bought any trains or rolling stock that specifically are Halloween themed (or Christmas themed either.  But YES, we do have a fall/Halloween layout that we set up each year on 4 folding tables for the Holiday with lots of Lemax and Dept 56. carnival and spooky town buildings and rides.

After the season, we leave the track but remove everything else and turn it into a Winter/Holiday layout.

I agree with earlier poster, it does require a lot of storage space to keep all of the buildings, boxes, etc...but it is fun for the kids and neighbors!
