Another one fro the 1956 trip to visit Grandparents. Between Silver Spring, MD and Chicago, we rode B&O's Columbian. The Strata-dome was a magical spot for me. Scenery, signals changing, passing trains, and floodlights at night! It was also a noticeably smoother and quieter ride.
I have taken numerous photos of the Niles Canyon Railroad train of lights, and I can't find them at the moment! So here's one I pulled down from the NCRY.com website for you Holiday enjoyment.

This is one of my favorites:
Enroute to New Orleans for the World's Fair, in 1984. Speed was above 65MPH, on a slight ascending grade, thus the full throttle, and "hooked up under the chin"!
