when your running F units from the early 2000's and you want to run a powered "B" should you turn off the odyessey?

I don't. Maybe I should, but I don't.
I think it all depends on the specific engines and how well they run together. When I bought my first scale F units in 2005, the A and B units did not run well together at all. They constantly fought each other with Odyessey on, and being new to this I didn't know to turn it off. Needless to say, that B unit burned up quickly. I had it repaired by a local Authorized Lionel service center and was told to turn the Odyessey off when this occurs. After turning it off in that pair, I never had another issue. I do have other engines that run just fine together with it on, and I also have engines that don't run together at all, on or off. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer for this issue.
I also have another set of f units that run great together but this set I posted about just don't do it. It runs fine and then it seems to go out of sync.
I'll give the tips a try and see what happens.
I love running F units in ABBA SETS with two powered and two dummy's so running correctly is important.
Does an engine still have cruise with it off?

No
never... how do you have them programed?
At one time I had them under one number, than I noticed if you program them in a (sorry) "LASHUP" with the Cab 2 Legacy they run better together.
I have run an A unit from 2004 with a B unit from 2002 pulling 10 18" passenger cars on the club layout for an hour with no problems. I do have them all programed the same number and we are using a Legacy Base connected to the track. This with Odyssey turned ON.

I have them programmed with one number. I have other sets programmed the same way without any problems.
Ill give it it a shot though.
Turning off Oydessy on older TMCC engines in a MU was always one of those "Might Help" things. It is really worth seeing what happens and deciding what is best
