Watching the strength of the dollar vs all other currencies on CNBC I would think that our model importers will do very well this year. Hoping few if any price increases as i expect nothing to go down even though I'd like prices to fall. Any discount on new items would kill sales of in stock items.

There are people who buy new train things? Wow!
I will of course look at exchange rates if I'll be travelling to another country, but generally I don't worry much about where the dollar is at any given time as the economy will always ebb and flow. Stuff like that is so beyond my ability to do anything about it, it's not even funny...
Depends if the contracts were negotiated in dollars or yuan.

From my side of The Pond the strength of the US $ against the UK £ is something of a pest.... modelling US outline was much cheaper a few years ago when £1 was worth $2 (as opposed to about $1:50-ish now) but then again what really kills is Shipping Costs - they really have skyrocketed in recent years, to the extent that for, say, Atlas freight cars, the Shipping quoted on Ebay is often as much as the cost of the car itself!! Then I have to reckon with Tax on import... it's not a good time to buy from the USA at the moment, I'm afraid. ...a real shame, as your trains are just so much bigger and better than ours, as well.
Spare a thought for us down here in Oz. The official rate is about 70 cents but when you actually buy something, the charged exchange is about 65 cents.
Then you've got the USPS to contend with. Since they went broke, they are trying to charge their way back to solvency.
