Don't you just wonder what's the story behind this car? The picture is from a old glass negative and titled "Ghost Train". It was shot outside Washington D.C. sometime in the 20's or 30's. Don

Would this be a Combine car? Maybe... I thought I could see bars in the end closest to camera, and surely that is Pennsylvania lettered on it. Would be interesting to know it's full history. Beautiful shot at any rate.
Reminds me of early collecting days with Dad. Father & Son dealers opened a shop selling Postwar in the early days of MPC. They used an old wooden car much like this at a tourist steam line.
What a wonderful car to model. It is interesting that there are windows on the baggage end. The duckbill roof is neat.
It reminds me of an old car from the Winnipeg Water District that ran on the Maggie Valley Railroad back in the late 60's.The MV was located in Maggie, NC and used 2 small Heislers. The car ended up at Bear Creek on the Graham County RR before being scrapped.

The crew, shaken and stirred, ran and abandoned the car after they saw President Lincoln sitting in the back, sipping a Martini. They also heard the sound of ocean waves, a couple of palm trees and scale rail right ahead in a beach buggy.
Was that you scale rail?
