Drive train noise/vibration in lionel 18375 trainmaster

It seems all of a sudden my above mentioned engine started making noise and vibration from the drive train. It would be best described as a growl, can be heard barely over the RS 5 at times. Bench tested and clearly seems to be coming from the drive train.

I greased both the worm and drive gears but do not see significant reduction of the noise or vibration.

Have any of you experienced these problems with this locomotive?

Are there any other parts of this engine that may cause these issues.

It seems to more noticeable on curved sections of the track. It has less than ten hours run time since new. The gears look OK and no shavings are evident.
