I'm embarrassed to have to ask this, I should know it, but what is the input voltage for a PS-1 smoke unit (the kind with the built-in board). Does it run off track voltage or constant voltage, and if it's constant voltage, how many volts and is it AC or DC into the 2-pin connector on the board?

PS-1 smoke units run off track power, the higher the power the more smoke.
Note that the fan on the PS1 smoke unit does NOT run on track power, it must run off the regulated power from the smoke unit board. 
Thanks guys, that was the info I need. I will be transplanting a leftover unit and needed to be sure how to hook it up. I have the complete unit so the fan will be running off the board as it is supposed to (Thanks Gunrunner).
I just had one of and tested it on my bench transformer, smokes up a storm when you get to about 16 volts! 
They work quite well with 10-14 VAC if in good condition.
That is about the input voltage to run them at for use in a building or factory smoke stack.
I'd be tempted to run them at a lower voltage so the fluid would last longer. I wonder if anyone has invented a self-stoking smoke unit?
I burned up one of the little fan motors running it on a high voltage. Sorry to say this, but everything I have (Premier MTH) is run off straight, filtered DC. I gave up on the fancy schmantsy circuit boards years ago. With two large diesels and 20 cars, I'm only putting 5 to 6 volts into the track, and their smokers work great at that power.
