I had this electrical parts kit in my parts box for a while and cannot for sure know what it is. I think its for replacing the selenium disc in a Lionel transformer or a some kind of rectifier? Anyone have any ideas or info?
Thanks

Franktrain, that is a bridge rectifier. Used to convert ac voltage to dc.
I install them on postwar Lionel accessories and eliminates the buzzing noise!
Can also be installed on the postwar e units and also eliminates the noise!
Thanks Mark! The screw must be for the ground. How do you identify each leg? The plus+ power in or out?
Thanks,
Frank
The 2 outside wires, where the + and - are, are the DC connections and the 2 middle ones are marked AC and where your AC power is connected!
Just as it is marked on the rectifier.
The screw and washer are just for mounting purposes and doesn't need to be grounded!
The two middle wires are for AC in and the outer ones are DC output (+) on left in the pic and far right (-). As AC is alternating current they usually do not matter.

Looks like the rectifier and insulating sleeves Williams provided to upgrade the early GG-1 models.
Note that if you use this from track power, you can NOT ground either of the DC leads to the frame.
Just as a hint to you and all of our other friends on the Forum, you can always Google the part number, and find out what you have:
Note that the data sheet indicates that the rectifier is rated at a maximum of 400 Volts, but can handle only 2 Amps.
Thanks to everyone for the info. Its going back into my parts bin and maybe I will need it at a later date. I will write a info note and store the parts together.
Thanks,

This is off-topic, but trying to reach gunrunnerjohn about upgrading a Williams NYC semi-scale Hudson with a Superchuffer and sound...if you're out there john, send me an email...
