Mark of the Northern Nevada Railway Museum, really ran a great photo shoot this February.  I was there for the 2nd weekend (the first had a bunch of snow) and it is really tailored to the photographer. No place was off limits and the engine house was open at 4 am for anyone truely willing to get up that early (I got there by 6 am). Everyone was very helpful and it was nice to see steam in 20 degree weather.  I have posted my photos here. http://clarityphotos.smugmug.com/Trains/Ely-Nevada  Enjoy, I know I did.  The night shoot with a working steam crane was the highlight of the experience.

The 250 mile drive from Las Vegas has convinced me to include it in my next trip to the west coast in my bonanza.  Unfortunately, I doubt that I would try that in February unless I take the southern route from Maryland.  I also need to find out the damage from an IMC incident on the FKD ILS at 2800 feet. The autopilot released with the trim at -9 due to miswiring of the autopilot pitch servo. The two rear windows were cracked and the wing bolts and main spar need to be inspected.

My favorite photo is this one;
