Engine from the MTH 30-4025-1 set

Hi folks...hope this is the right forum to ask this question...

I have the above Amtrak engine that runs fine in conventional mode, but I am not getting any sound other than the horn to work on it...this is my first MTH...as I run fastrack with Lionel KW190s (and basic TMCC). The website says this engine has Proto Sound and it had a 1999 release date. There is no battery in this model (that I can see). I have not seen any info on the sound not working and the engine running fine....and there is no "on and off" button for sound. Just a lil baffled not really concerned...any input appreciated!

Protosounds needs a rechargeable battery or the BCR to work. NO sound will come without either. Can you verify that you at least have the 9V connector to the board?

I see no 9V connector on this engine...but again it runs fine...

Sounds like it is a 4035-0 which is just a DCRU and Horn board. Not Protosounds.

Does it have mechanical couplers on engine, or electro magnetic? G
