Initially, I was going to post this to the S Gauge forum, but I figured it would get more exposure here. My point is that S, and all scales need a good variety of radii so we could do this. Er, I mean build sophisticated layouts.

Should have a contest to see who, if anyone, can build that with FasTrack.
I can't believe no derailments, cars look empty and light to me. I got dizzy and had to quit watching.

How does the video end. I could only watch 1/3 of it.
Freakishly cool!!! It ends the way it started.....trains running....That's a lot of Bachmann EZ track!
A railroad Möbius strip!
This was a very cool thing to see. I have to admit I could not help but wonder if his other hobby is knocking down dominos.
Of course this carpet layout worked perfectly, but could you image how much work and patience this took to build. Just to set up all those helper engines in the right place so as to move the cars and not snap the couplers took some know how.
I wonder if they where using a DCC control system?
All and all it was very .
I thought it was cool. Obviously a lot of thought and effort went into it.Did anybody notice that he had UP engines pulling NS coal cars?
Doug
Not possible to get sleepy " the noise oh all that NOISE" !!!!!!!!!!! My wife says not in the house, go play trains in this wintery mix we're getting in Maine this a.m.
I have never liked snakes...................it brings back the memory of the snake scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark...............

Oh that is seriously, seriously cool - one of the most interesting and creative toy-train things I have ever seen. Wow!
I studied it for quite a while, how the cars orbit faster inside than outside the spiral, how they set it up with locos interspersed throughout the consist, etc.
Fascinating.
Thank you!
Seriously,,,,,, That man has way too much time on his hands. But, I must admit it was unique and fascinating. He knows what he is doing it, for sure.
I am invested in O gauge, but I have always liked S gauge. Great combination of decent size so you can handle the trains and yet small enough to pack more punch in a given space. For those of you thinking about pulling that off with O gauge - Clean out the whole basement.....
Thanks for posting this. It was fascinating to watch, although it did make me feel a bit dizzy. I could also see that it was obviously built by a man, (Who naturally didn't read the instructions. ) as there was 1 piece of track left over.
Hope Gomez Addams does NOT have a look!

There are NS power on freights here in Houston!
"WHEW"
That was pretty neat, someone clearly had too much time on their hands.

1950's era EMD GP locos pulling current era modern hoppers was what I noticed!!!
Looks like the inside of a Fidelipac or 8-Track cartridge.
That poor guy is desperately in need of some straight track. All that came with his sets was curved sections.
Someone has too much time on their hands.
Talk about loop running! ...
Andy
That video need to come with a warning that viewing may cause dizzinessessess.
That is so stupid that it is interesting.

I am IMPRESSED! When I modelled H.O I had a 6 pack of those Walthers hoppers. Those **** things couldn't go around once without one of them derailing for some "unknown " reason
I don't know how in the **** he got 141 of them to go in circles for 7 minutes

Up GP7 or GP9 without dynamic brakes pulling NS Bathtub Coal Porters. Its still cool.
Please stop spinning the room around!
My wife said if I ever made a setup like that in the living room, she'd call the men in the white coats to have me quietly taken away...
don't go quietly
It would be interesting if the user could add more cars so it would be impossible to identify the lead engine.

Challenge accepted. Well, kinda of, in SCARM anyway. I don't have the space required to do it, or the track on hand. Since he didn't show the rest of the layout, I kept it simple. The approach grade can be reduced with a longer lead. It's about 2.2% now with about a 5.3% decent grade. It takes about 11x32 feet. Less if you start the grade after leaving the vortex. I only did it on the top line after the turn around to keep it simple. I've included the SCARM file for all. If you ever do it, I jut ask to give credit where credit is due, to the guy that did it in HO for the original idea, and me for the basis of the FasTrack plan. And be sure to post videos!!!
And yes, it works like an 8-track tape, only the 8-track pulls from the center, not the edge like this does.
Looks like the inside of a giant 8 track tape cartridge, except it is running the wrong direction. Needs to exit from the center.
After the track plan is approved and built with Ross or Atlas O track, someone will have to go back to town ang get a **itload of NS Bethgon Coalporters and UP geeps!
No caboose? Wazzup widdat???
Hoppy
Here would be the projected cost. 141 coal porters at a cost of fifty dollars ea. $3050.00 New and used. RK Scale UP GP 7 or 9. New and Used. $250.00 ea. $2240.00 Total just for equipment, $5290.00 not counting track. My wife would kill me.
Pretty cool. Must have been a snow day.
That was very interesting, thank you for posting. Very creative.
so cool!!!
have a 8'x 12' board I take to shows.
had a continuous loop train running
with 2 helper engines.
the last car in the line coupled with
the first locomotive. A lady stood there for about 5
min. finally she says
Hey! were's the caboose, there's no end to that train.
Did all the cars have different numbers?
Actually, after a few minutes of hypnosis, the most noteworthy thing about this video
seemed to me to be the remarkably ugly upholstery on the couch and chair.
I mean, SERIOUSLY?
