Dumb question here, will mth dcs and also the new wiu and premium app control lionel command ready fastrack switches with out the need for an aiu?

Roger,
No, an AIU is required for operation with either the DCS Remote or the DCS App.
Even with a legacy base hooked up to the tiu via the serial port with the lcs ser2 added?

Yes, even with a Legacy base and an SER2. DCS can only directly control TMCC and Legacy engines, not other Legacy or TMCC command control devices.
This and a whole lot more about DCS is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store! |

Asked differently: What is the minimum equipment that I need to have to control "Lionel FasTrack Command Control Remote Switches" without an AIU ?
Context: I am running a "no wire" Xmas layout made with Fastrack. I do have the full DCS WiFi kit (Premium App, WIU, TIU) and I would like to operate those nice wireless switches !
"Ref: "...Congratulations on your purchase of the Lionel FasTrack Command Control Remote Switch! Look Mom no wires! This switch operates and is programmable by your CAB remote. You may choose to remove the installed manual controllers and forgo that wiring all together..." https://www.lionelsupport.com/...0GenericCCswitch.pdf
TMCC Base and CAB1 is the minimum equipment. There is no wireless solution using the MTH remotes.

Would this be a good "minimal" solution if I want to stick to iPhone/iPad control ?

You'd also need the LCS basic power supply kit.

After reading many posts and Barry`s book (Wifi companion 2nd edition), I believe the best solution for me to add full Lionel Legacy functionality to my current MTH-WiFi system will be:
Option 1): Full Lionel stand-alone ( with WiFi-Lionel Apps)

Option 2): MTH-WiFi expansion to control Lionel, as per Barry`s book (ref: Wifi companion p.229)
- MTH TIU+WIU+Premium-App (that I already have and use) -AND-

Option 3) Both Option 1) + Option 2) + http://www.lionelstore.com/LCS-PDI-10ft-Cable-681502 (ref: Wifi companion p.228)
I hope I did not miss anything !
Note: It is too bad reading that, even with a Legacy base and an SER2, there seems to be no wireless solution to control the Fastrack Command Control switches using the MTH remotes...

Could someone confirm that I also need a http://www.lionelstore.com/LCS...-Monitor-STM2-682728 (With 1 wire) to get the "Wireless" Command Control Fastrack Switch real position ?
If you want the "real" position of the switch, then you would need this. You don't need it to control Fastrack switches with LCS, but if the non-derailing feature is triggered, the switch position will be incorrect without this add-on.
