Thanks for the
encouragement. I
know I am
sacrificing scale
and reality for
theme, but I want to
try to make it all
look good by having
added ties to the
o27 lionel track and
using ballast and as
much high rail type
look as I can. I
also like the
Woodland Scenics
buildings and have
purchased 2 of
them. I also have a
Statue of Liberty
and Mt Rushmore that
will be on the
layout and plan to
highlight other
national landmarks
with models. I am
pre laying the
Gargraves track
today to see how my
attached plan will
fit. The lower
level will be tied
in to the upper
level with a 3%
grade running around
the back and side.
As soon as I fugure
out how where my
Google pictures that
are synced to my
phone are on my
computer I will post
them from this
Thunderbird email
client.

Mike

Hi Rail Baron,

Thanks for the
interest.

Yes I am going to
continue with
Landmarks. I plan
to do the St Louis
Arch, A Washington
DC landmark ( I have
looked at some
models on-line) ,
of course the Golden
Spike needs to be
shown. I also plan
to put an oil well
in Texas. I modeled
in foam so I can use
a torch to cut
rivers and the Grand
Canyon I have seen a
guy cut rivers
on-line and it looks
good. I will
practice a bit
first.

I have a lot of
space below the
states layout on the
10 x 20 support
platform where I
have my siding and 3
loops. I can also do
a Main St. USA
modeldown below. I
don't want the top
USA cut out area to
get to cluttered. I
will be adding the
Rockies with tall
peaks and rolling
mountains for the
Appalachians. A lot
of it is unfolding
as I go along. I
have purchased a lot
of hardware and want
to keep it
operable. I have
both Legacy and DCS
controls and
trains. I have
posted the track
plan in another
reply. I am working
on prelaying the
track to get a feel
for some adjustments
that have to be
made.

If you have any
suggestions for
Landmarks, please
mention them.

I know I am forcing
the viewer to make
pretty large leaps
in reality, but I
have a love of maps
and US heritage. I
have a number of
the Presidential
cars that will be
pulled with the
Union Pacific Legacy
engine 7361 with the
Large flag and the
words Building
America. I have a
prewar Blue Comet
set that was missing
an engine, so I
purchased a new MTH
- Lionel blue Comet
that runs on DCS.

I always loved in
the movies where
they show a airplane
or a train covering
the USA or the world
on a map, like
Around the World in
80 days.

I will be sure to
check out your
layout.

Best Regards,

Mike
