I know I've read about this topic before, but searching for it on this and other forums hasn't turned up any answers -- but that may be due to shortcomings in my "Searches".

It's well known that the gauge on the 2 rail Atlas through truss bridges, and perhaps others, is too wide because Atlas used the same deck mold [ less centre rail ] as they used  for 3 rail, which uses a rail with a wider base [ or foot, if you prefer that term ];  the 3R gauge may also be wider.   I thought substituting Code 148 rail using the inside-the-gauge spikes would solve the problem, but it doesn't seem to, at least on a trial basis.

So:  What was your fix ?

Best regards, SZ

Steinzeit,

I didn't change anything and I have not had a derailment on the bridge, or the girder bridges, ever. Unless the appearance bothers you, I would not do anything. I know others in our local group have the bridges as well and I don't think they changed theirs, either. I'd be shocked if they did change theirs. I run items from most importers and my guess is unless you are using a Proto 48 wheel profile, you won't have any problem.

Recently, I did add gaurdrails to the tracks but only to help the appearance.
