JEP (Jouets de Paris = Toys from Paris) was one of the largest toy train manufacturers in France. After a visit to the USA in the fifties of one of the JEP employees they decided to add S gauge trains to their range (which included then 0 gauge and H0 gauge). The only made a small number of different items: some clockwork trains and some electric trains. The range was not succesful at all and JEP quit making S gauge in 1960, 4 years before the company was dissolved. I do have since this week one of the JEP S gauge electric 0-4-0 locomotives (an 0-4-0 based on a French 141P Mikado). It is a rather toy-like train but it runs:
