Have a good FEF!
I had to come up with something and the BNSF 5835 sitting on the siding waiting for the Pacific Amtrak to pass by on my old layout! It is going to have an extra-long wait as I am just starting to build a new train room in Missouri!

Good looking photo Craig .
That is one really sharp looking bridge .

@PRRronbh Is yours a darker blue? I'm not familiar with all of the Blue Comet variations so I'm curious if it came in different shades.

Well forum friends I am away from home on vacation and away from my collection, so I have to peruse my photo archives for the right pictures. This is from a couple of years ago so if you have seen it I apologize. It is an American Flyer, (Chicago Flyer) type x from 1932. This was a wonderful era for Chicago flyer and you can see that by the amount of add on detail for piping and handrails. Note the handrails on the tender even. She is all diecast and quite a "heavy hauler" While not the "top of the line" in her day, she was clearly a premium offering from Flyer at the time.
Happy F.E.F. everyone Have a great weekend

My front-end views for this Friday, June 28, 2024, show New Haven #3400, an MTH Premier model (20-3148-2) of a USRA 0-8-0 switcher, heading toward the camera on my 10’-by-5’ layout.

I think the FRA may be paying you a visit Bob. I noticed a close clearance issue to the peabody hopper.
Slow orders should have been in place.

Happy Front End Friday everyone! I've been away from my Train Room while enjoying a vacation to Maine, but as with all my trips, I always take a detour (and plenty of photos!) whenever railroad themed stuff pops up. First of all, from this afternoon's trip to the Cole Land Transportation Museum, here's two views of their little rail speeder.
Here is also the MEC BL2 that forms the centerpiece of their railroad collection. The Cole is well worth a visit if you're in the northern Maine area-- this is my second trip there and I saw lots of things that I didn't even notice on my first trip (like their fantastic collection of US Army uniforms and WW2 displays).
While relaxing by Moosehead Lake in beautiful Greenville Maine, I was pleasantly surprised by a passing CPKC freight train on the Greenville trestle behind the park. Look at the 0:21 mark in this Youtube video to see exactly when the "front end" breaks the tree line.

Happy Front End Friday. This photo was from a few years and layouts ago. This is an early Williams FM, it does have an e-unit but no horn. May need to upgrade that someday. Have a great weekend y'all!

Great photo as always. I love the yard ladder. My family has always tried to do the same thing on our layouts. Have a great weekend.

Here's my FeF for the day, it's a switcher faceoff, with some early evening sun on the blinds. The guys on the left are arguing about which one is the prettiest, SP SW8 or SF SW1200! IMO its the Santa Fe hands down! LoL I grew up with SP near my Hood, and man did they have some (how do I put this delicately) bland paint schemes?!
Happy Friday to you all, and have a great weekend!

@WesternPacific, Scott, your front end diesels are beautiful, we seem to have similar taste in diesels…. Happy Front End Friday fellows….

Happy Front End Friday to you all! I just found this older video from a few years ago, before we had done a lot of scenery on the layout. I had been testing our wye. We made an extension to make the wye. It rolls and hinges sidewards when needed to be out of the way. So here’s the “front end” of my favorite SP “mallee” testing the wiring and track work of the wye.

Paul the SIRT loco is incredibly sharp looking. Is that a METCA special?

Thanks, Joe… have to agree - the paint scheme really pops. The METCA mob ain’t responsible for this one, it’s a regular Lionel issue.

Santa Fe definitely wins that beauty contest, Scott. As much as I love the warbonnet scheme, to a certain extent, I think the blue and yellow pops more (oh the heresy!!!). It may be weird, but the traditional warbonnet looks amazing on the F’s and PA’s with the rounded noses, but with the more angular designs, it just doesn’t work for me. And, in defense of your beloved SP, if you think that is bland, I’ve got some PRR engines to sell you (NOT GG1’s)
