I'm really getting excited for it. I've got several new Christmas cars coming in soon as well as the MTH Canadian Pacific Holdiay Train. I was at the LHS on Saturday for the first time in a few months. We all were wondering if the new Christmas stuff will show up on 12/26 as it did last year!

Can't wait for York in a month!

This will, most likely, be the last Christmas in our house. I've toyed with the idea of picking up one of the Austrian LGB G Gauge sets for around the tree. This year, I think I'll do it.

I thought the pace of railroading was supposed to be a little bit slower on the Put-Put!....

Fellow Christmas layout and Christmas train fans:

I can still use a number of high-quality photos of your Christmas layouts for our Readers' Rails section of the magazine if you have some interesting ones from last year or this year that you might like to share with our readers and get $50 for, plus two comp copies of the magazine Always nice to have a seasonal edition of the magazine to show to your kids and grandkids years from now.

Need hi-resolution images (largest file size) and need them in the next week or so. Send as e-mail attachments to editor@ogaugerr.com.

In Baltimore we call them Christmas Gardens and every year since 1950 I've had a train under the tree - even in Viet Nam. I'm old school and don't start to get excited about the garden until Thanksgiving.  The tradition in our house when I was a kid was to get the trains from the attic the day after Thanksgiving and start the garden.  That's when the holiday season started and I've continues with that tradition.

Allan...check your email.....I sent 2 pics from last year's Thanksgiving show at the Science Museum of Virginia. We (the River City 3 railers) always decorate the 6x11 "small venue" layout for Christmas.

Harmonyards.....remember, the Put was the route of "wide loads" for the Central coming into NYC.....and consists are increased in the Fall and early winter for Christmas deliveries!

BTW...I saw that you may be coming to York. Email me about your time line and I can give you some inside scoop on the "get togethers" that take place. We all love meeting the people we converse with online and put faces with names....

Peter,

I hope Allan pick one of the photographs you sent!  I sent him some of mine, but I think photos of a club layout at a public venue would be a great promotional tool!

I have some parts on my York shopping list for my Ives 10E Std. Gauge loco which only comes out at Christmas.  Unlike last year, my plan is to get it fixed and ready to run on or before Thanksgiving so that when the tree comes home, we're all set to go.

Recipe for happiness:

  1. Build a fire

  2. Turn on the game featuring your favorite NFL team

  3. Run the train now and again while watching the game

  4. Sip some wine

  5. Enjoy the flickering bulbs in the passenger cars.

  6. Contemplate how good that roast smells cooking out in the kitchen
  7. Exhale.
