My layout will be set in the 1950's so I have been staying away from modern equipment say 1980 to present. But as the grandkids get older they ask about the trains they see on a daily basis around their homes. So I bought 2 WbB GE Dash9 and repainted them in CSX colors. WbB had some CSX loco's but I want these two schemes and I made a small change to the tri colored scheme. I made all the decals for the units and made some minor alterations and will add a little detail later.

Today I got my first Husky Stak well cars. These MTH RK cars are pretty nice and fit in well with the WbB Dash. I have about 15 total coming. That should be good enough for a layout size intermodial. THX

AMCDame - That is really a handsome locomotive you turned out there.

I think about the issue you raised a lot, and eventually I will have to get some modern power.  I, too, model the 1950s and I run almost exclusively steam.  Yet my grandkids have never seen a steam locomotive other than Thomas on TV. My boys, all grown now, grew up watching big diesels rumble past across the highway four or five times a day, and that is what they wanted on their layouts when they were younger. Sort of amazing to think that the sole diesel I run a lot - the Warbonnet F3s, is an antique - about 65 years old!  When my boys were growing up they at least understood and accepted F3s as "modern enough" to tolerate Dad running them.  Not sure their kids will be as tolerant of grandpa running his model As!!!

Thanks for the comments all!!!! I agree 3 rail O is not for nit pickers. While my layout will have a realistic look....it is totally free lance heavily infulenced by the real world. And yes....fun is the main goal!

Here is the Chessie 3 color CSX loco......you're right Sean....kinda my version of Heritage!  Fixing the fuel tanks really helped. A few details and light weathering and they'll be done.

So Williams is selling that as a Dash 9?  Based on the long horizontal intake screens on both sides behind the cab, that looks more like a Dash 8.

I can tell a GE loco from a EMD (or whatever they are called now) but I lost track about 1980 or so of picking models. THX
