I just upgraded everything on my NYC Niagara,

smoke upgrade

chuff upgrade

new flywheel and speed sensor

and best of all I upgraded the speakers from the original low budget speakers that it came with, to baby Fat Boys

All the upgrades IMO came out fabulous. These upgrades are all fairly simple to do. Thanks for looking, if anyone needs any info about these upgrades it will be my pleasure to help out. It's too much to type, but it was a very involved process to install these speakers. What I can tell you is the old speakers were 8 ohms each, and the new Fat boys were

16 ohms each. The process involved ( changing the speakers from series to parallel ). I will post a before video later on

the boss (AKA THE WIFE ) needs me for some errands. LOL

Great work on the Niagara! I have this engine as well and would like to know more about what/how you did to it.

First, I need to deal with a different problem with my Niagara. It works fine in Command, but is stuck in forward in conventional. And, yes I have checked that the run/program switch is in the right position. Has you ever seen this on yours?

You've made that loco what it should have been when Lionel first released it.

How about some more video of it running at speed?

The CC PT tender made for the ESE hudson has 4 speakers and RS-5. Much closer to Legacy out of the box.

Alex had you considered 50mm Fatboys for this? I have a pair of 16 ohm versions I planned to install in the same tender.

Hi Pete,

I thank you for clearing that up, I didn't have the time before in my original post to explain what I had done. Dale  Before I touch, or do any work like this on any engine, I check everything out with an OHM meter, once I know the I have the OHMS correct than I do the final hook up.

Thanks,

Alex

Thanks Don,John, RickO, Brian, Dale, and Pete for the nice comments and info.

Pete I wanted to use 50mm Fat Boys, the reason why I used these is because I had them laying around from another engine. LOL

RickO here's a few more video's at speed for you.Rick these Niagara's pop up every so often, keep an eye on the auctions. If I see any I'll let you know

John, I wish I could help you the problem you're having with running it in conventional

mode, but I never run in conventional so I don't know much about it. If you need anymore info on the upgrades I did, just email me and I will be glad to help

Thanks again to all,

Alex
