The Greenberg toy/train show rolls into Edison, New Jersey this Saturday and Sunday 8/10-8/11 with hours from 10-4 both days. It is located at the Raritan Center expo center. Always a good show to attend with about 500 tables and about 6-to 8 operating layouts of assorted gauges.

Stop by and say hello to myself and Steve Musso as we will be operating Legacy, TMCC, DCS and the new Thomas remote-controlled set on fastrack layouts. We are located behind the large N gauge layout.

Also, I will have applications for anyone who wants to see and/or the club I am a member of in Lakewood, NJ. www.ocsmr.com

Day 1 of 2 days at Greenberg show in Edison, NJ:

Lots of tables with plenty of trains for sale. As an added bonus, they added a few more operating layouts-I counted almost 10 or so large layouts not including our small 24 foot long fastrack layouts.

Fun day operating trains there for the public. Had good attendance while the weather was real nice outside today.

If you do attend, stop by and say hello as we are located in the rear of the hall next to the large Lego layout.

I have the exact opposite opinion of this show.  I arrived right at 10:00. While there were plenty of operating layouts I thought the amount and quality of O Gauge for sale was the worst I've seen in many a year.  Several larger vendors seemed to be missing.  There were more toys available than trains.  Even Gryzboski's had much less than usual.  I was terribly disappointed.  I hope the pre-Christmas show is back up to speed.

My girlfriend and I went to the show.  The show seems to get worse every time I go up there.  I live in Maryland and don't mind driving to a show in another state.  I noticed a lot of non train related tables.  I thought most of the prices being asked for used rolling stock was more then the MSRP for new stuff.  The highlight of the trip was buying pickles from Paul's.

I have gone to several Greenberg Shows in Chantilly, VA, Timonium, MD, Somerset, NJ, Oaks, PA and Monroeville, PA.  These shows are all the same and getting worse.  The only reason I went to the show yesterday was to pick up pickles from Paul's Gourmet Foods.  The best show in the area IMHO is The Great Scale Model Train Show, and it's supposed to be cutting back on the show dates.

Well worth the 30 minute drive for me.  Plenty to look at including scenery supplies, tools, scratch built buildings, plenty of o-gauge old and new including new releases, and two o-gauge operating layouts.  I walk by the non-train tables, not a big deal.  I ended up with a nice print from the artist in the front and a pastrami on rye from Harolds on the way home.

The only good thing about the Greenberg show is catching up with friends..

you hit it on the head Joe, spent most of today doing that

I'll agree half with you both. Nice to catch up with friends there but the promoter does one great job advertising the show and they bring in loads of folks to the show whether they are true train fans or just families coming for the day to see the layouts which were a few more than usual.

Yes, there may be dealers there carrying the SOS but look around and you will find bargains there.

I will not let you guys bash the Greenberg folks for the time and efforts put into promote the show to us and the general public-lot of pre-planning done on their part.

Ted ... Not bashing the Greenberg crew..they do a nice job and are a credit to the hobby .however a number of these dealers should "freshen"up their act ...IT IS the sos ..could walk down the half the aisles with my eyes closed and tell u whats on the tables.. Was going to come by today to say hi but got caught up with work around the yard .. Give my a call during the week....

Same here.  Not bashing Greenberg.  I appreciate that they run the shows as often as they do and that they attract as many dealers as they do.  I just wish more high-end used dealers were there.  It seems it's either new, new stock or post war items.  Very few dealers (Ike is an example) come with new interesting items each time.

I'll still come and keep hoping for more!
