I just wanted to share my latest articulated intermodal stuff. I made these from MTH premier husky stacks and 48 ft containers. This is similar to that 5-car cut-down set I posted a week or so ago. However, these are extended from 48 to 53 scale feet. Like the other project, I had to increase the sidesill height even more to match the prototype. The end result is that these are just about exactly 1:48 scale. The protoype is 204 ft long and these three cars measure 51 inches (51 x 48 / 12 = 204). The containers are exactly 13.25" (53 scale ft)
This project included a lot of filling and sanding (the least fun part of making models) but I am happy to get some 53 ft intermodal on my layout! Since I have all BNSF stuff, it was natural to choose JB Hunt and Schneider for the containers. Everything here is painted with rattle cans and I made all the decals myself on a laser printer.
