Hi Everyone,
I am playing around with a new project and I want to make sure that I am proceeding correctly. I am not an electrical expert and I know how fragile some of the board electronics are. I want to install one of the new RCDR boards from the early inspection vehicles into the 18424 pickup truck. The truck has a DC motor with an RB152 bridge rectifier attached to the two poles on the motor. Looking at the parts diagram from the early inspection vehicle and the board diagram graciously provided by Lionel it appears that the DC motor and the RCDR board does not need the rectifier. My question is, is a rectifier required between the board and the motor? Does the motor need a capacitor across the poles in place of the rectifier? Does the rectifier need to remain in place? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would eventually like to turn this into a how to article, since many of Lionel's mid 90's motorized units could work great with the RCDR board.
Thanks for the help!
Derek
