I'm looking to do some in person buying of rolling stock to fill out my little empire and would also like to go to my first train show with an emphasis on dealers (the one I've been too most recently was NJHighrails trainstock several years ago, which is going to hard to be for train running, layout sprawl and hospitality). Obviously York is legendary here, but I might have to be away that weekend, and if not would only be able to do Friday night and Saturday. Another show I discovered was the Allentown Spring Thaw but don't remember hearing much about that one before. Any thoughts on how that compares to York? How it compares given that I can only go to York later on? Any other good shows within say a 2h drive of Philly? Thanks!

There are plenty of shows with in a two hour drive. Allentown Spring Thaw is a nice show. Friday at York is a good day, but don't plan getting there in the evening.

Worlds greatest Hobby on tour. March 28 & 29, 2015 • Edison, New Jersey
There are smaller shows in New Jersey. These shows usually have a few vendors and people selling off their collections.
I think Allentown is an excellent show........it's a 6 hr ride from central VA.......I can only make it when I have something to do in the Philly area.......so I only go every few years ........
The hospitality of the gang that meets at the HamFam before the show on Saturday makes it a lot of fun!
