I bought a few cab & conversion kits from Boulder Valley, and started a couple critters(44 & 70 ton) . The On30 part of my O gauge layout lends itself to larger power so I looked to convert some larger HO diesels. After a little research, I bought a couple Bachmann H16-44 FM diesels and started cutting. The FM diesels are wider than most others and have large details. The first one is a little rough, but I am pretty happy with the look, but will cut a bit different on the next. The FM fans & screens look pretty good as far as scale goes, I will need to increase the headlight diameter and numberboard size.
I attached some photos of the first one I cut out, but have temporarily stopped because I got a deal on 2 HO H24-66 FM's with 6 wheel trucks that seem more vertical than the four
wheel variety. The 6 wheel versions will be posted as soon as I can.
Anyone else working on a conversion? I would love to see it!!
