So how many sets of Lionel Prr GLa sets have been brought to market? I see in Charlie's post sets #3&4 are due to hit the streets soon.

If I remember correctly, there was a set that came with an engine and then two or three other sets of three cars that were offered separately.

There have been at least five three-car packs in addition to the three circle keystone PRR GLa's that came with the M1a set:
6-81858 (shadow keystone)
6-81686 (circle keystone)
6-82611 (circle keystone)
6-83535 (circle keystone)
6-83539 (circle keystone)
It seems to me there was another shadow keystone 3-pack but I can't find it.
The PRR M1a set has P/N 6-81247. Engine number 6755
PGENTIEU's list above is correct. There have been four 3-packs of circle keystone cars (12 different numbers) and one 3-pack of shadow keystone cars. There was a single 3-pack of Berwind cars cataloged in 2014 and repeated in 2015. The M1a set came with 3 PRR circle keystone cars and one Berwind. These have different car numbers than those in the separate sale 3-packs.
Wow! I didn't realize there was that many made! Boy I am glad that I asked. Now I have one set but will have to find the others.
Keep in mind that the last two, 6-83535 and 6-83539, were in the 2016 Signature Edition catalog and are listed on the Lionel shipping schedule with "estimated availability" of June 2016. I personally haven't seen them yet but they should be "in the pipeline."
