HI

I also have a carpet layout. It is actual on a hardwood floor and I found out the hard way how much noise it make with Fastrack. I purchased a moving blanket from Harbor Freight and that should bring the noise level down. Living in a COOP with a three year old and train layout not a good idea. I am "allowed" once a year to set up my trains on the living room floor.  Once I have setup and running I will post pictures.

This is a fun thread to read.

As I currently have a full basement, I don't have plans for a carpet layout while we live in this house.  When I retire, however, I'm sure willing to give up the train room, if it means a beachfront condo!

For those of you who keep a layout up for a long period of time, how do you stop yourselves from accidently steeping on the track?

Merry Christmas,

The same way I keep from accidentally stepping on electrical cords or sleeping animals -- I watch where I'm putting my feet.

The real problem isn't stepping on track, it's keeping the track clean.  Seems as though track is a magnet for dust bunnies and animal hair.  I have to vacuum it regularly.
