Business as usual in parts of Brazil. One division had 125 locomotives assigned but only 24 active. Many seriously damaged units. What was more amazing was to see Traction motor gears sharp enough to shave with, but with missing teeth on active units.
They could not do initial terminal brake tests because the air brake gauges were missing.

And a friend of mine who lives in Brazil has this to say about it.
Greg it was a derailment in the limestone route. The tracks there are not good, and FCA started to use the big BB36-7 there. Soon we will have big acidentes there. Those tracks won´t hold the big locomotives when the raining season starts.
