How to load pictures

Got a brand new Apple laptop and have a flip phone to take pics or a Nikon digital.  I have some pics I'm proud of and want to know how to download these and then post them to this site.  My daughter informs me that I am a dinosaur in a microchip world so take it easy on me.Thanks.
