How to replace Control Knobs on Lionel Z 250watt Transformer | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Need to replace Control knobs on Lionel Z 250watt Tranformer. Request any Info on whether they should be pried upward or how exactly they are attached ?

The prewar version has set screws in the knobs. The postwar version is friction fit on a splined shaft. To remove this version use 2 screwdrivers, one under each side of the knob and push upward.

Put something between the screwdriver blades and the faceplate to avoid scratching the faceplate, maybe a couple of layers of masking tape.
