How to replace the drive gear of an MTH tinplate locomotive?

Alignment and lube are the key to making gears last.

Id think about having an extra gear or two for long term insurance

(Something I sure wish I did ten years ago with some post war magnetraction bearings when "everyone" still seemed to have lots of them )
