I can't go to York but I got a WBB Gp38 in Chessie for $99 from Trainworld on Tuesday. I picked it up in Brooklyn the guy said he picked it off the pallet bound to York. I'm happy and thinking of the gas and time I saved. (I would have love to go but am staying positive).

I'm sure others here have similar stories.

You really got a bargain, if they include tax , to use the over a 100.00 sale

of 10%, off, on Tuesday ( last day for Columbus day).  so, if you did not buy,

1 piece of plastic, to get you over 100.00, did or did they not use the Columbus '

day sale,  my purchase was 100.95, enough to make it.   And I believe Wbb,

GP and SD-90, have been at the $99 mark for months,  they must have an absolute ton of stock !!!!!!!!!!  Strong runners

I said this the other day in another thread I started about York and its former bandit meets.  Plain and simple... we don't need York EXCLUSIVELY for great train deals anymore.  2013 proved that in spades.  Many dealers are starving for revenue, so they're offering York-like deals throughout the entire year now.  If it's not one dealer running a sale, then it's another... and so on, with the net result being it ALWAYS appears stuff is "on sale" well below the normal discount dealer prices of MSRP.

Now having said that, let's be very clear.  York still is an event to enjoy and experience.  In fact, as I also mentioned in another thread, it can still be overwhelming -- even to seasoned York attendees.  I was literally astounded this year by the excellent deals -- all under one roof at the same time.  Too many in fact to take advantage of them all.  I could have blown my train budget for the next 3 years at this past York... the deals were THAT good.  But we all have our limits.
