My 18-year old Lionel JLC 3985 is wearing out. I'm wondering if either Lionel or MTH [Premier] has produced one recently......

If I may ask how is it worn out? I've never managed to wear out a locomotive, but I just run my stuff at home.
Assuming it is indeed beyond repair, check out the Lionel Vision Legacy Challengers, cataloged back in 2010 (can't believe it's been that long). The latest and greatest. You can find them around if you search a little. Were available in black and the UP greyhound grey. Pretty incredible engines.
I have a VL Challenger. AWESOME, AMAZING LOCO!!!! NEVER selling it. I recommend one, if u can find one and afford it.
Hi Phil, This is Dean from Willits, I believe I have 2 or 3 (New) MTH Premier Challengers , give me a call if you still have my number and we can talk,
Dean

Yes - how do you do that? What parts are "worn out"? How is it acting "worn out"?
OK, I used a wrong word.....'Sorry. "worn out" actually applies to ME, not the loco, as I have had many occasions to fix one thing or another. This time it's a SC that has me baffled & P-O'd......Also, the replacement MUST be numbered 3985.
Does anyone know how the Vision-Line stacks up against the MTH model?
Phil
Both are quality. I have a few Lionel Articulated,s no challenger and I have the MTH challenger, Great Northern road name. I'd be willing to part with the MTH challenger. If you are interested email me s4steve@optonline.net.
