I have the LCCA Halloween General set and was wondering if anyone has tried to work on / replace the smoke unit in this engine

The set has become something of a “fan favorite” at my house - little people and their parents all want to see the old fashion train run

Runs great but I would like to see a bit more smoke - not expecting miracles

Thanks in advance

Don't think a fan unit would work in this case. The heater unit is built into the stack. Try a different brand of smoke fluid. Only about 8 drops in this style generator. It uses a standard 27 ohm resistor, if you want for a challenge, you can carefully disassemble the smokestack and get to the heater and replace with a 22 ohm resistor available from Lionel and smoke wick and rebuild the smokestack. You will get more smoke now. No less than 22 ohms otherwise it will heat the plastic and soften it up.
