HELLO OGR MEMBERS, I'M STILL ASSEMBLING MY FLEET AND I'M STILL DETERMINED TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION FOR A NORTHFOLK SOUTHERN LOCOMOTIVE SIMILAR TO THE WILLIAMS VERSION. I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT IF LIONEL EVER PUT OUT A F9 SHELL OR ANY TYPE OF SHELL BODY THAT HAS THE TWO ADDITIONAL LIGHTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE NOSE SECTION ON THE LOCOMOTIVE. I WOULD TRY TO FIND/PURCHASE TWO SO THAT I COULD AIRBRUSH AND DETAIL A SET OF CUSTOM NORFOLK SOUTHERN LOCOMOTIVES (ABBA, ABA, AB) FOR MY COLLECTION. FORUM MEMBERS, YOUR EXPERTISE IS WARRANTED ON THIS QUESTION, THANKS AGAIN

No, Lionel has never done any F9s, or any F units with ditch lights (if that's what you're referring to). Adding ditch lights would be a custom job, although not that difficult, I wouldn't think. Maybe someone will chime in who's done ditch lights on F units.
Breezinup is correct, Lionel has not done the F9. Neither has Williams, K-Line, or MTH for that matter.
MTH did a NS F unit set as part of a special uncatalogued dealer program but based on pictures of the actual set I've seen the MTH locomotives seem to actually be F7s and not F9s as the pictures don't show them having the additional lovure vents ahead of the first portholes of the carbody as the F9s had. At any rate, good luck trying to find the MTH ones on the secondary market.
Just as an aside, going forward you may want to consider refraining from posting in all caps; it actually makes your posts a bit harder to read, and in the online forum/IM world it's considered "shouting."
Thanks John Korling, I forgot about the shouting thing, and for the info too!
No problem, you may want to check out Techie's post above as well as that's another viable alternative if you want to have a more accurate representation of an F9. I completely forgot about those older, pre-Atlas O F9s.
There are hardly an differences between on an F7 and a F9 engine body. What differences are there? If Lionel, MTH, or Sunset Models/3rd Rail comes out with an F9 or an FP9 then we can compare them with their F7/FP7 models.

These are generic spotting differences, details vary from road to road as locomotive were shopped:
The F9 has a 48" dynamic brake fan and the F7 a 36" dynamic brake fan.
The F9 came standard with a stamped grill while the F7 had a fabricated one.
The F9 had five vertical louvers on the carbody (one in front of the forward porthole, four inbetween the portholes) while the F7 four horizontal louvers between the portholes.

Phase II F7's built after mid-1952 had 48" dynamic brake fans. FYI.
