I was more the usually careful when bashing the two LC+ locos I have modified so far because I was worried that the antenna for the radio control was on the outside of the loco - specifically the railings on either side of the boiler. I seem to recall some or another RC-receiving loco having its antenna there, the small stanctions holding the railing being plastic insulators for the antenna and damage to them being likely to cause control problems. Anyway, I decided to ask.
Jon Z at Lionel answered my e-mail question promptly and said no, the antenna is not the outer railings along the boiler, but instead it is mounted inside: the signal is of a frequency that will penetrate the body of the loco. That opens up a lot of nice possibilities for future LC+ projects as I now do not have to consider keeping the body or how to solve "the antenna problem" if I remove it. LC+ just keeps getting better and better.
