I will be spending a few days on the east coast at my in-laws.  I have a few days I can railfan.   One day I plan to go shoot the 734 before he is out of service.  I hope to get some great action shots.  It will be running on the weekend, June 20 and 21st.  I will only have one day I can visit there and am not exactly sure of the date yet.

Any other railfan want to join me.  I doubt I will ride the train but spend the day shooting it.  Looking for someone who might know the great spots to hit but a 1st timer to the WMS would be fine also.

I will be driving 4 hours from New Jersey to the railroad that morning and driving back that night.

Email me at trainphotography.net at gmail.com for more information.

The Great Allegheny Passage bike trail shares ROA with the railroad.

I've parked at Woodcock Hollow and accessed shots at Brush Tunnel.

Helmstetters Curve is the Cumberland side of the Brush tunnel. Some talk about the cemetery at Helmstetters Curve.

I also thought the #9 Switch location up into Frostburg afforded some interesting shots.

And the turntable at Frostburg.

My grandson and I also rode the train to Frostburg and biked back to Cumberland.

There is a bike rental along Canal Place, near the Cumberland station.

Is the train easily chased by car No or should I just pick a few spots along the route and race to the next one after it passes? You get shots at Cumberland, and Frostburg, most likely you'll get at least one shot accessed from Woodcock Hollow.

I really wish I had 2 days for this trip but a family obligation keeps me for shooting just one day.

My wife and I did a wonderful three day experience.  Road the train 1st day. Accessed the trail at Frostburg, day two, and hiked to the Big Savage Tunnel/Continental divide. Day three, we went over the mountain to Meyersdale and hiked to both the Keystone viaduct and the Salisbury viaduct.  Both have wonderful access to CSX double main through Meyersdale.  Bike trail is great.

It looks like on Friday they will be pulling excursions but by Diesels.   Maybe I could head up for friday and hike the trails, photograph the Diesels and sat do the 734.
