Recently, I picked up this gondola from a thrift store.
While I'm mainly an operator and hardly a collector, I couldn't ignore the fact that this car is like new, and hardly appears to have been touched, aside from a small amount of wear on the edges of the box, which is to be expected of any box its age (it's from '91, according to the box). The barrels included are in an unopened plastic bag and unused decals for the barrels that read "Hershey's" are in that bag as well. The wheels don't even appear to have ever touched rails!
I'm primarily a Lionel guy, and I know this ain't no pre/postwar gem, but is there any value in this item, or a collector's market for K-Line products, or even anyone reading this in particular who would find it desirable? I'm just trying to decide if I should keep it in its condition and shelve it or sell it, or open it up, put the decals on the barrels, and get some chocolate deliveries going? Any knowledge on this car and/or K-Line in general is appreciated.
