Why bother? Just more beating of the dead horse, as nothing has really changed.

It seems all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put poor 1361 back together again. I'll be lucky to see it running again in my lifetime and God willing, that will be a fairly long time yet.
To really stir the pot, just reassemble it properly with the correct painting and display it at Altoona. Some things are not meant to happen and with 2 K4s' in existence, why not just make a great indoor display out of it?
Instead of building a T1 of questionable engineering when it was originally designed, I'd rather see a replica K4s anyway with the modern equipment and appliances necessary to run on Class 1 track.
In the meantime, my Sunset 2 Rail 1361 is a decent stand in. It runs.
I'd like to know what's so questionable about the PRR T1 engineering ! You'll see 5550 operate most likely BEFORE 1361 turns another wheel under steam !
Interesting to still see the boiler on the Flat car. Doesn't that Flat car have to be returned? isn't the museum paying for that flat car after 24 hrs of delivery?
Anyone know what tender the #1361 has, is it a P110 or a P130?

Not necessarily, if they own it has an "historic piece".

No.
I visited the Altoona museum at the end of June. It was my first visit since they built the roundhouse.

Here is the 1361's boiler sitting on the flat car. The car looks to be a museum piece that hasn't seen revenue service in a while.
Here's the smokebox end.
The ash pan is here and it looks like you could pick up the air tool and go to work on it.
The stack and grates are nearby.
The headlight is here, too.
Some of the other parts are laid out on the floor. The steam delivery pipes are in the rear.
The tender looks to me like a class 130P75.
Here's an overview showing most of the 1361's bits and pieces that are in the roundhouse.

Nice photos, Bob. Did you happen to see the engine frame & running gear?
It looks to me as the dirty work of cleaning the 1361's parts is done. Now it's time for a knowledgeable team with steam experience to step in, repair / replace what needs to be and assemble her into working order.
As you can tell, I have an optimistic point of view. What the 1361 needs most is expertise and help!

Not quite! The firebox are needs to be replaced in order to comply with current FRA regulations, just like the Strasburg Steam Shop has done/been doing to the Long Island group's PRR G5.

And LOTS more money to pay for all that help!
I and I think many others would donate to have the 1361 back on the rails in steam. Unfortunately, the impediment to donating is that the 1361 is the hands of a government agency, and that needs to change ASAP.

I photographed all of the pieces that were there. I was wondering where the other "big pieces" are.

Hmmmmm. That's interesting. Quite some time ago, I. did see a few photos of the frame, and the separate drivers sitting on a floor (without the journals and crankpins properly protected), but not indication of their location.
Looks like a big kit waiting to be put together.
