Korea Brass Trains & Lionel...

Wow.  thank you.  I would never have known about this site.  They show that they made the Lincoln funeral train among many others.  I'm not surprised - always thought they did.  

Interesting company.  I hope they do well and maintain a good relationship with Lionel, but I remember how K-Line got so crosswise with their competitors and look where it got them?

Wow indeed. Can see at least a couple of previous Vision Line engines there, maybe also Lionel models from some years back. Stripes cripes - I hope they're around to do future work. Could not see any specific product of their own or anything that looked like a Lionel or MTH product under development.

Interesting. All the O Gauge products are the same as lionel has been offering.

Not clear if they sell these to the public and no prices.

Interesting.  I had thought US train companies designed the models and had them mfd overseas.  This appears to have been designed in Korea.  I wonder if models are also designed in China and then bought by MTH, Lionel, etc.  This could explain some anomalies.

Some time back, KBM announced it was going to release an HO model of the U25C. In the time since the announcement, Hornby released its own HO U25C as part of the Rivarossi line as well as an N scale version with Arnold branding. KBM recently posted pictures of pre-production U25C models on another forum so plans to release it appear to still be in place. At the time, KBM indicated it was still getting its North American dealer network lined up. Below is a link to the company's Facebook page:

Do miss that korean built Lionel stuff, smoke motors work, paint doesn't flake off, no lose details in the box, pilot bushings stay together..........

I think Samahongsa became MKT and moved to China.  Don't they make most of Lionels higer end locos and cars?  MKT mades the Best Friend and I assumed the Dewitt Clinto but KB shows the Dewitt Clinton on their site.

I dunno...I have mixed feelings about the Korean high end Lionel locos.  Most of the ones I had exhibited paint rash...prior to 2004....worse on the ones from the early 90s.  My 1990 Scale Turbine was horrific..

Its no secret back in 2001 when Lionel threw in the towel they transformed themselves from a self contained toy train manufacturer to a marketing company dependant on subcontractors for its survival.

What is surprising..how much of Lionel's family jewels were leveraged in the process.   With KB appearing more prominent in the hobby and Lionel now totally dependant on outsourcing, it could be everything they once owned but the Lionel logo itself.

Hopefully I'm wrong.  But IMO from the looks of that website, Lionel looks to be in exactly the same cost killing position today Kline found themselves in 10 years ago...
