KTM/US Hobbies ATSF 4-8-4 Northerns came with two smoke lifters (extended smoke stack) in the up and retracted version for the modeler to apply as they perferred. I'm in the process of upgrading mine through the gracious help of friends. I only have the extended smoke lifter when I purchased it. I would like to get the retracted version also. Does anyone know a parts vendor that may have the KTM/US Hobbies smoke lifters? If not I'll have to kit bash one.

One possibility might be MTH. Although not listed as a 'feature' on their website summaries of Santa Fe Premier steam, several of their models clearly have the lifter mechanism shown in the retracted position. I'm sure these were brass details added to the diecast boiler. But, I'm not sure that they're available for separate sale. You'd have to 'inquire within'....or someone more astute may give a better response.
Many of the early generation brass models from Japan featured castings from small shops. Aftermarket sales of parts-only were not a priority/concept. The production volume probably supported the complete engine models...with a few repair pieces...but nothing beyond. I expect the molds thereof were maybe even destroyed after a while?
Shooting from the hip, here. I know there are others out there with more/better info. Hopefully they'll chime in.
Sunset 3rd Rail and Pecos River have done ATSF steam with smoke lifter mechanisms. Maybe they can be of help, too?
FWIW, always...

Might be worth asking Bill Davis at American O Scale.

Typically MTH does not seperate sale detail parts, however, that being said, they sometimes will have an extra one run if asked during the next run of that model. Their steam is still coming from Korea, so maybe they still have all their detail molds. If you have an MTH dealer, they can inquire for you.
My two cents...
