I took my 4 year old son to his second York TCA show on Thursday. He wanted to see running trains so I took him to the Lionel booth where we stopped to see remote control Thomas. Just a few seconds after arriving the gentleman working that booth asked if he would like to run Thomas and handed him the remote which he caught on to right away. Next we moved to the main layout and as we were watching Tom Nuzzo, in his cowboy hat, walks over and says I have something for you. He disappears for a few minutes and reappears with a Lionel Vision Line hat and two Lionel trains pencils for him. Again he was thrilled just to be watching trains and then to get some cool Lionel items just made his day. After awhile I started asking John Zahornacky about the Legacy-L controller and he started talking to my son and asked him if he wanted to blow the quilling whistle which was the perfect ending to a perfect day for my son. So kudos to Lionel for making a 4 year old feel really special and making his dad feel really good about Lionel. They know who the future of the hobby is and achieved their goal since I just bought a remote Thomas set for him from the local LHS. He wasn't even acknowledged at any other manufacturers booth.

It really makes your day when you have that kind of experience. Doesn't happen enough.
That's a great story
That's really cool!
Childhood is were dreams begin. I think your son has a great start with you and Lionel made an important impression on him!

Great job Lionel!!
I think that's great. Lionel is reaching out to the kids. We need to get more kids interested in trains and get them away from the video games.
Great story. I'm a fan of both Lionel and the job that Jon Zahornackey and others there are doing to make their cpmpany focus on customers as well as technology. It sounds so easy, but as you have proof, many companies can't quite understand that your son is their future.
