lash up disappeared... if I attempt to build a new one, it won't let me check the boxes next to the selected engines to select. Can I recover the lashup?

Look in the Inactive Engine List.
Lashup not in inactive nor active list.
If that's the case, either you deleted it or you lost the slot it was in.
What release of DCS are you using? If you aren't using 6.1, it's really pointless to troubleshoot the issue.

That depends on whether or not the actual DCS ID# is missing or just empty. Which is it?

And How do I accomplish my #1 above?
When you turn on the remote, it displays the dcs version.
For the TIU, press menu: system: tiu setup: tiu version: select the TIU#
