Ok I am what you would call and old newbie. My DCS system crashed about 2 years ago. I repaired it twice and went down again. I gave up on The DCS system for a while. Now ready to try again. What is the newest revision or updated DCS system what should I look for? Just need to pick up a new remote and TIU.

The Rev. L TIU is the latest version, and it's a significant improvement over the earlier hardware versions. It's the one that has a USB port, you can't miss it.
Thank you gurunnerjohn.
Have you determined what happened to the original system and what caused it to fail?
RJR on the original system the first thing that happened was the lost of a TIU. Not sure what caused the problem but it was a catastrophic failure. Then the second TIU went down but was salvageable. Then the remote went. By this time I was starting to get my belly full of MTH and DCS. My railroading interest is mainly in HO. In my layout room I have a 3-rail O running around the outskirts of the room. So I think I will give it one more try.
I am trying to remember the model of the latest TIU and I think its a "J" but someone maybe can help with that also.
Hobo: Reason I asked was ;possibility that some flaw in layout was blowing TIU's. The original TIU's had some inadequate components that MTH replaced under warranty, I have 2 that got the fix & still work fine,
Pops: Rev L is latest

I hope it's Rev. L or I have a couple of counterfeit models.
Yhanks guys, I had bought my TIU's when the new version came out seems like about 2 years ago or so and could not remember for sure the version. Glad to have you guys get me on the right version. Thanks
Flip it over, the rev is on a sticker on the back for Rev. L units, don't know about earlier ones.
Ok if I pickup a REV.L unit Will it run my Proto 2 engines that are 2 to 3 years old ok? Sorry if these are trival questions but for the most part I am still newby and for the most part in the dark.

All DCS hardware and software will run all PS2 and PS3 engines.
This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!
