great work fellow pittsburgher! you should contract out to rebuild the Carnegie science center layout. They could use a new redesign of the entire setup and use engines like yours. I think they would get more donations if they constantly updated and redid the entire thing. I really like your setup.

patrick, when you applythe grass materials to the mountains, did you use a spray mount adhesive and sprinkle the grass or earth on top?
thanks

Nice as always Patrick! I'm not sure if its the lighting in the photos or intentional, but regardless, I like the "overcast" look/ feel in the photos. Its different, and really brings out the detail in your layout.
thanks for the tip patrick. never would have thought to use something that simple!
Chris
The photos are great! As to Chris' comment about the Pittsburgh Science Center, I haven't seen it in 25 years. Back then it was good, but still a display layout. My impression of Patrick's is that it is a model railroad, and a good one. Big difference in my opinion.
Happy Model Railroading,

Please if you enjoy the pics thats great. Dont compare the layout to others at least here.
I do it for enjoyment after work. Its not enjoyable to me to be elavated or deflated by being compared. I post pics so maybe someone else can get some ideas and hopefully some people will like the work, cause theres no one in this house who cares for "trains".LOL
Wont mention her name but ,The science center display and the people who do it rock!
Patrick, Valid point. My apologies.
Mark
Great pictures Patrick!! Thanks to you my Korber roundhouse and my MRS TT are looking great so far. I will post pictures in a couple of months or so once roundhouse and TT are built and installed on my layout. Thanks again for sharing such great ideas with all of us. Keep up the great work.
Have a great weekend!
Matt
Patrick,
Great stuff always the best, hope to make time to see it live in the near future.

Looking great!! Always nice to see the progress.
I do enjoy the science center layouts. they do excellent work, my only wish is to see some bigboy locos on the layout with all the sounds and whistles coming on. they do alot of details on it and its great. The forbes field is great and so is the town and new farmstead they just built. everyone should go see it if your in pittsburgh.
Oh, and you have to go inside the omnimax to see Rocky mountain express. sit up front. it takes your breath away when the steamer is hanging on top of the bridge!
Patrick,
Thanks you sir for a wonderful evening, I enjoyed your layout very very much.
Running your trains is a seriously great time.

Patrick, thanks for sharing more photos. Everything looks awesome. LOL, you've given me enough ideas to last a life time.

Patrick, good to see you guys had the setup in monroeville. my little one kept me running to that race car area, so I could not come over and chat. I liked the Shay you had.
Seems like there was more activity there and different items.

Chris,
If you have not seen Patrick H's layout lately, it is truly fantastic and Patrick and his wife have a beautiful home to display it. He has built an amazing multi train layout that impresses everyone who sees it.

Hi Patrick, not sure if this was already answered in the past but I was wondering if you used Homasote or MDF in the Turntable/Roundhouse area or did you just lay everything just on plywood?? If you can please answer as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated because I'm in the process of installing the TT and not sure if I am going to need some sound dampering material for that area. Thanks a bunch!!
Regards,
-Matt

Nicely done, Patrick!
Riding along on the train allowed me to see details that I had missed; but then again, there are so many wonderful details to see on you layout . . .
Thaks for taking the time and sharing.
Alex
Enjoyed the video Patrick!!!......WOW!!
Alan
Very nice video, was the police car lite up because of the stowaways in the flat car. Just kidding, always look forward to see what your latest posts are on your layout. You are a prime example of why this forum exists. Thank you.
Paul
Hi Patrick,
First I want to thank you very much for doing this.
Now this was totally spectacular, it made my Sunday night.I love the way you used the other engine's and passenger cars in the tunnels to add light. The ride was awesome I felt like you took me across Pennsylvania and back.
Patrick check your email
Thanks again, Alex
Patrick, the size, scope, and complexity of your RR humbles me. Whose equipment are you running. I all looks like advanced Lionel stuff. Am I right?
Right about 6:54-6:56 into the "Take a Ride..." video, did that locomotive derail on the trestle at the right edge of the shot?
