Received my NP and Great Northern Cars from the LCCA. Wow - great job, at work or I'd show pics.

Does anyone know if these cars have individual lionel item #'s i.e. 52xxx? Reason I ask is they are in custom LCCA boxes. The boxes are very sharp.

Probably would not have noticed but I went to add these two cars to my inventory and cant find a Lionel number on either the outer box or separate boxes.

Thanks, Paul

Paul,

I don't have the cars, but looking at Bob's photos above, it looks like the SKU is printed on the car.

On the NP, look to the right of the flag, looks like 17###.

On the GN, look to the left of the flag, I can make out what it says, but that text looks like it contains the product number.

the numbers are 17501 and 17502. I don't really know if this is the SKU number or not

Bob, Yes, I think that's the product number.

Paul, here's where the number before the DASH makes all the difference.  For example:

6-17501 is a Santa Fe Standard O Flat Car

6-17502 is a Santa Fe Standard O Flat Car with Trailer

3-17501 is the LCCA 2017 Northern Pacific LionScale Box Car

3-17502 is the LCCA 2017 Great Northern LionScale Mechanical Reefer

I love this uncataloged stuff.

Paul,

There are several different prefixes that Lionel uses.  While there are general trends in the prefixes, there is a lot of crossover.

3- is LionScale, or maybe it's items made at Lionel facility in NC

6- is the majority of regular production

7- is mass market items, what you'd find in stores likes Kohl's, Amazon, Target, etc.

I seem to recall 9- but can't place my finger on it at the moment.
